The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA), includes many disclosure and reporting requirements that postsecondary institutions participating in federal student aid programs make to enrolled and prospective students, parents, employees, and the public.
In compliance with federal law, a brief description of the information that must be disclosed, where to find the information online, and contact information for the responsible department is provided below. For your convenience, most of this information is also provided in the College Catalog.
This Consumer Information is disseminated to all SoLAcc students every semester via student email. If you have questions or would like to request a paper copy of any materials, please call or e-mail the appropriate office or visit the indicated websites.

The Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Amendment of 1989 (Public Law 101-226) requires the College to certify to the Department of Education that it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the illicit use of drugs and the abuse of alcohol by students and employees. Recognizing and addressing bullying is paramount to ensuring a safe and healthy campus environment that is conducive to learning and that protects the rights of individuals. South Louisiana Community College defines “bullying” as any behavior that is intentional and causes harm and where a real or perceived power imbalance exists between the parties involved. It may be physical, verbal, social (intentional damage to someone’s reputation or social standing), or may use technology, such as e-mail, phone, social media, or the Internet (cyberbullying).The Anti-Bullying Policy is available in the College Catalog.

South Louisiana Community College Bookstore is operated by Follett Corporation. Textbooks are submitted each semester by the appropriate academic dean and are then available to students in store as well as online. Students can also find the ISBN number of each book along with the price both in the Bookstore and online. Disbursement of books and supplies procedures for financial aid eligible students will be provided to students through the Office of Student Accounts. South Louisiana Community College values the freedoms of speech, expression, and assembly in its college environment. In accordance with the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution of Louisiana, and ACT 666 of the 2018 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature (Louisiana Campus Free Expression Law), students, administrators, faculty members, staff members, and invited guests who wish to assemble and engage in noncommercial expressive activities on the public areas of SoLAcc’s campus shall be permitted to do so freely, as long as the conduct is not unlawful and does not materially and substantially disrupt the functioning of the campus. Additionally, on campus free speech will be made public in the institution’s catalog, on its website, and through the Office of Student Engagement programs. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics (Clery Act) is a federal law which requires colleges that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on, and near their respective campuses. South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) will adhere to all requirements of the Clery Act and Section 304 of the Violence against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA), which extends the Clery Act to include dating violence, domestic violence and stalking.
The Campus Safety and Annual Security Report is provided to the public for compliance with the federal Campus Security Act of 1990 and the Higher Education Amendments of 1992. This document contains policy statements and crime statistics for the College. The crime categories within the report are mandated to be reported by the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990, also known as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act. Also included are policies imperative to the safety and security of our campus community.
SoLAcc shares the public’s genuine concern about public safety in a college setting and offers services and preventative measures to improve the safety of the College community. Ultimately, each individual is responsible for his/her own personal safety by being aware of his/her surroundings and using good judgement.

The regulations listed within the Code of Student Conduct pertain to students and student life at South Louisiana Community College. The Code of Student Conduct is promulgated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Services under the power and authority delegated by the Board of Louisiana Community and Technical College Supervisors and through the Chancellor of the College. The Chancellor has delegated the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic & Student Affairs as the agency responsible for the administration of discipline at South Louisiana Community College. Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day) is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. South Louisiana Community College hosts a Constitution Day program each year.

South Louisiana Community College maintains a campus network to support and enhance the academic and administrative needs of our students, faculty, staff and other campus users. Users of SoLAcc’s Open Computer Labs and the College’s computer system must adhere the College’s Computer Usage Policy and to federal and state laws related to computer fraud, software, piracy, unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, unauthorized peer-to-peer file sharing, etc. Most software used on SoLAcc's computers is covered by copyright, license, or non-disclosure agreements. Offending users may be assessed civil penalties in addition to being subjected to disciplinary action by the College.
Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the right to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement. Penalties for copyright infringement include civil and criminal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or “statutory” damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For “willful” infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can, in its discretion, also assess costs and attorneys’ fees. For details, see Title 17, United States Code, Sections 504, 505. Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense. The cost of attendance reflects the amount of money a typical student is projected to need for school-related expenses during the academic year based on residency, housing arrangements, and degree program. The Office of Financial Aid publishes estimated costs of tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses. Actual expenses can vary depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to: number of credits being taken, degree program, housing arrangements, and residency. South Louisiana Community College is authorized to offer distance education through its membership in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, known as NC-SARA. Participation in SARA allows accepted out-of-state students to take online courses from locations in other SARA states and still qualify for Title IV funding. NC-SARA also requires that any institution that offers courses or programs potentially leading to professional licensure must keep all students informed as to whether such offerings actually meet state licensing requirements.

REGROUP is an emergency mass notification system, which provides SoLAcc with instant notification capabilities during an emergency on campus. In accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (P. L. 9-380) as amended (P. L. 93-568-Buckley Amendment), persons of any age who attend a postsecondary educational institution that receives federal funding are hereby informed of the right to inspect and review their official education records. South Louisiana Community College considers attendance to begin on the first day of classes. Students should submit to the Registrar or another appropriate College official written requests that identify the record(s) they wish to inspect. If the records are not maintained by the College official to whom the request was submitted, that official shall advise the student of the correct official to whom the request should be addressed. The Office of Financial Aid provides assistance and counseling in completing the financial aid application, evaluation and determination of need. Financial Aid advisors are always available via email and phone. Financial Aid advisors are also available on an appointment basis.

As required by law, students born after 1956 must provide proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus-diphtheria, and COVID-19 as a condition of enrollment. A copy of the "shot" records furnished by a clinic or health care provider is satisfactory. Contact the Louisiana Department of Health for vaccination records in Louisiana. Students may claim exemption from the requirement for medical, personal, or religious reasons by completing a waiver statement. Students can electronically sign a waiver statement when completing the online application.

Net Price is the amount that a student pays to attend an institution in a single academic year after subtracting scholarships and grants the student receives. A Net Price Calculator is available on our website and it allows prospective students to enter information about themselves to find out what students like them paid to attend the institution, after taking grants and scholarships into account. Net price results from the calculator are estimates and are not final or binding and may change. South Louisiana Community College returns unearned funds received from Federal student assistance programs to the proper program accounts or lenders in accordance with Federal Title IV student assistance regulations under 34 CFR, section 668.22(a), the Higher Education Act of 1965 as amended, and in accordance with procedures of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. The Return of Title IV policy differs from the refund policy of South Louisiana Community College, which may be accessed under the Return of Federal Title IV Funds policy.

A student grievance refers to non-academic and non-financial complaints of students against employees of South Louisiana Community College. It does not include grade appeals, academic status appeals, admission appeals, student discipline by the institution, financial aid appeals, refund appeals, and all other matters that are within the jurisdiction of other committees of the institution.
The college is committed to affording all students, including distance education students, the opportunity for accessibility and due process during the student grievance process. To ensure this, at each step of the process an available distance option will be provided when necessary.

South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) Financial Aid Office is committed to the highest standards of professional conduct. As members of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), all team members follow the code of conduct established by NASFAA. Further, each individual is responsible for adhering to principles of good practice as mandated by statute, regulation, and/or other LCTCS directives. In conducting professional services through the Financial Aid Office, each member adheres to the following professional standards:
- Refrain from taking any action for his or her personal benefit.
- Refrain from taking any action he or she believes is contrary to law, regulation, or the best interest of the students and parents he or she serves.
- Ensure that the information he or she provides is accurate, unbiased, and does not reflect any preference arising from actual or potential personal gain.
- Be objective in making decisions and advising his or her institution regarding relationships with any entity involved in any aspect of financial aid.
- Refrain from soliciting or accepting anything of other than nominal value from any entity (other than an institution of higher education or a governmental entity such as the U.S. Department of Education) involved in the making, holding, consolidating, or processing of student loans, including anything of value (including reimbursement of expenses) for serving on an advisory body or as part of a training activity of or sponsored by any such entity.
- Disclose to his or her institution, in such a manner as his or her institution may prescribe, any involvement with or interest in any entity involved in any aspect of student financial aid.
We will not recommend external lenders to students or their parents and will also not maintain a list of lenders that are preferred over other lenders. Loans, regardless of type or lender choice, will be processed through any lender a student or parent chooses.
All Federal Direct Loan borrowers are required to complete Entrance and Exit Loan Counseling pursuant to federal regulations. Direct Loans will not be disbursed until Entrance Loan Counseling has been completed. Upon separation from SoLAcc, all Direct Loan borrowers are sent reminders to complete the necessary Exit Loan Counseling. Separation is defined as dropping below 6 credit hours during the fall or spring semester.
The following prohibitions are in effect for all employees of SoLAcc, immediate family members of employees of SoLAcc, and any employee of SoLAcc who otherwise has responsibilities with respect to educational loans:
- The above-mentioned will not solicit or accept anything of value from any lender in exchange for any advantage sought by the lender to make educational loans to students enrolled at, or admitted to, SoLAcc.
- The above-mentioned will not accept from any lender any gift worth more than nominal value.
- The above mentioned will not enter into any type of consulting arrangement or other contract to provide to a lender services relating to educational loans.
- Any of the above mentioned who serve on an advisory board (or commission or group) relating to educational loans established by a lender or group of lenders will not receive anything of value from the lender or group of lenders in connection with serving on such advisory board (or commission or group). This is including, but not limited to, compensation for time, lodging, travel expenses and meals associated with time spent serving on the advisory board (or commission or group).
SoLAcc will neither request nor accept any office staffing services from employees of a lender. Should there be any conversation between a visiting lender and a student, an employee of SoLAcc will ensure that the lender employee does nothing to misrepresent him or herself to a student or parent in a way that might be construed as being a representative of SoLAcc. Further, SoLAcc will never participate in the co-branding of materials associated with a particular lender/ loan program.

Tuition and fee information at South Louisiana Community College can be found by visiting the Student Accounts webpage. Payments can be made in person at the Cashier’s Office in the Ardoin Building on the Lafayette Campus by cash, cashier’s check, or money order. Payments can be made online with an electronic check or debit/credit card through LoLA. Payments made with debit/credit cards will incur a convenience fee equal to 2.75% of the total payment. Electronic check payments do not incur any additional fees. Cashier checks or money orders payable to South Louisiana Community College can be mailed to SoLAcc: Attn: Student Accounts, 1101 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA 70506 (payment must be received in the Student Accounts Office by the deadline each semester). Installment payment plans are only available through your LoLa account.
