SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are funds that do not have to be repaid, and are usually based on academic merit, but can also be based on a student’s major, residency, campus location, etc.
what you need to know
- THIS MONEY DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPAID. Donors across Acadiana give generously to assist our students with all or a portion of their tuition and fees.
- ANY STUDENT studying towards a technical diploma or associate degree can apply.
- You just need to fill 1 APPLICATION and we'll match you with the scholarships you qualify for.
- Each scholarship has criterias that are selected by the donor and will vary from scholarship to scholarship.
- The application period for these scholarships is open twice each calendar year.
Deadlines
- Fall semester scholarships open March 15th and close May 15th.
- Spring semester scholarships open October 7th and close November 15th.

MEET SOME OF OUR RECIPIENTS
TECHNICAL PROGRAM Scholarship
- Qualifications: New students who apply to the following technical programs at these campuses:
- Business Office Technology- Young Memorial
- Diving - Young Memorial
- HVAC - Young Memorial
- Industrial Agriculture Maintenance - Gulf Area Campus
- Industrial Marine Electronics - Young Memorial
- Oil & Gas Production - New Iberia Campus
- Welding - Acadian, CB Coreil, Gulf Area, and Young Memorial
- Amount: $250 per semester, per student, with a maximum of $750 for the year. The scholarship is limited to 3 consecutive semesters.
- Please Note:
- The process is first come, first served.
- You are only eligible to receive the three-semester scholarship one-time.
- Consideration Requirements:
- Apply and enroll in an eligible program.
- Submit application before the deadline.
- A completed FAFSA application must be on file.
- Retention Requirement: The scholarship is automatically awarded the next semester as long as the student maintains a 2.0 GPA or higher.
- Deadline: January 3. Students who meet the criteria will be emailed their invitation code to apply.
Academic Retention Scholarship
- Qualifications: Continuing students enrolled in the General Studies or Business program, who have completed a Certificate of General Studies and who have maintained a minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA. The scholarship is limited to consecutive semesters Fall/Spring or Spring/Fall.
- Amount: Students will be awarded the scholarship in their third semester and fourth semester for $500 each semester for a maximum of $1,000.
- Consideration Requirements:
- Apply and enroll in an eligible program.
- Submit application before the deadline.
- Have a minimum of 3.0 GPA
- Have completed a Certificate of General Studies in Business or General Studies
- Retention Requirement: Maintain a 3.0 GPA between third and fourth semester.
- Deadline: December 1. Students who are currently enrolled in Business or General Studies, and meet the general requirements will be sent their invitation code by email to apply.
The Chancellor’s HiSET Grant will be awarded to students who complete the high school equivalency diploma at South Louisiana Community College. Each HiSET completer will receive a certificate of eligibility that can apply a one-time $500 grant towards their SoLAcc education. National and regional external scholarships are not offered solely to SoLAcc students and are not affiliated with the Foundation for SoLAcc. Please refer to the external organization’s website for more information.
PTK Scholarships
Are you a Phi Theta Kappa member looking for a scholarship to transfer to four-year university?
Membership in PTK comes with many benefits, though potential members are most often interested in transfer scholarship opportunities. PTK Transfer Scholarships are offered at Louisiana universities listed below:

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), which includes South Louisiana Community College, has entered into agreements with three organizations: Future Farmers of America (FFA), SkillsUSA, and JAG-LA.
