The Center for Minority Excellence hosts various types of events to provide support academically and educational mission of the college and learning outcomes of the grant. The types of events maintain components inclusive of career readiness skills to prepare our participants to become global citizens in the workforce and the communities they serve. These events revolve around the following themes: Career and Self-Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity and Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork, and Technology, which are outcomes of the National Association of Colleges and Employers. The types of include but are not limited to:

  • College Tours
  • College Days for Prospective Students
  • Intentional Programming (Mentoring Moments, Barbershop Talks, Health Series, Salon Chats, etc.)
  • Lunch-and-Learns
  • Career Exploration
  • Academic Success Workshops (Math Blitz, Writing Workshops, Accuplacer Boot Camps)
  • Financial Literacy
  • Professional Conferences
  • Cultural Celebrations
  • Tutoring
