Below are some helpful links and resources that are free and may assist you with your studies.

Smarthinking

Smarthinking offers Free online synchronous and asynchronous tutoring to all SLCC Students in a variety of subject areas some of which include math, science, foreign languages, statistics, accounting, economics, and computer science. Smarthinking also offers writing assistance in all subject areas including foreign language writing assignments. You can choose to participate in drop-in tutoring, schedule an appointment with a tutor, submit offline questions, and access a variety of online academic resources. Each student will be allowed 10 hours per academic year. Should you exceed the 10 hours per year allotment, you must obtain permission in writing from the Assistant Director of Academic Success. In order to take full advantage of your time on Smarthinking, we recommend that you contact a staff person to identify which Smarthinking options will best meet your needs. Learning Express Library

The Louisiana Library Network provides the free LearningExpress Library which offers a variety of career and educational resources including interactive tutorials, review exercises, practice tests, and more. Access the library.

Bossier Parish Community College Open Campus

Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) offers free non-credit courses delivered online through YouTube and other various means. Access the BPCC Open Campus.

Khan Academy – Includes videos for algebra, trigonometry, calculus, physics, biology, chemistry, etc.

Math TV – Website includes videos on topics covered in Basic Mathematics, Algebra, Calculus, and Trigonometry

Hawkes TV – This website includes videos on all Algebraic Foundations and College Algebra Topics covered at SLCC.

LearnersTV – Studying trigonometry, calculus, or statistics? These videos will provide an in depth explanation of various topics in mathematics.

Purplemath – Math online tutorial which include worksheets and practice quizzes

Wolframalpha – Do you have a question about mathematics or science? Get an immediate response from this site.

Desmos – Graph functions, plot data, evaluate equations, explore transformations, and much more – for free!

Analyze Math – This site offers tutorials and worksheets for mathematics and free ACT and SAT sample practice test

Math is FUN! – Can we learn and have fun at the same time? Try this website.

Understanding Fractions – Website contains visual representation of operations containing fractions

MathWay – Covers subjects such as Basic Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics

Math Doctor Bob – Website includes videos from basic algebra, calculus, statistics, differential equations, etc.

Online Course Database – This site consist of a database of an open courseware collection from the world’s leading universities. The database provides the public insight to all the free high quality college level courses across a vast amount of programs, especially those in the math.

www.mathispower4u.com  – This site provides more than 6,000 free mini-lessons and example videos. All videos are closed captioned and ADA compliant.

https://openstax.org – OpenStax is a nonprofit educational initiative based at Rice University and their mission is to give every student the tools needed to be successful in the classroom. OpenStax provides OERs for various subjects offered by SLCC.

Randall's ESL Listening Lab – Practice your listening comprehension skills and build your vocabulary.

Randall's Basic Self-Study Guide – Listening activities organized according to subject and language function

English Learner's Online Dictionary – Look up definitions, hear words pronounced, see words used in sentences. You can collect words and build your own personal dictionary for free. You can practice pronunciation and ask questions, too.

Wordly Wise Vocabulary Reinforcement NEW!!! – Click on the STUDENTS button for free word lists and games (levels 2-12). Listen, pronounce, read, and test yourself.

Activities for English Language Learners – Exercises, puzzles, quizzes, and tests

The Polyglot Project-Practice Reading and Expand Vocabulary – Enjoyable reading with a translator function if you do not know a word. Read and build your English vocabulary!
