PLEASE NOTE -- The Louisiana Contractors Exams scheduled this week are canceled. Students planning to take the TEAS exam Tuesday morning should check their email for a message from the Testing Center director. The exam will not be administered as scheduled because of the limited number of people who can gather in one spot.

South Louisiana Community College is seeing an increase in student enrollment this semester, despite decreasing national trends. The college is also experiencing an increase in enrollment from year-to-year. According to Debbie Tabchouri, director of Enrollment Management, the college saw a 7 percent increase in enrollment for Spring 2020 compared to Spring 2019. This follows a 5.7 percent increase experienced in the fall 2019 semester.
More than 30 employers and universities will be at SLCC’s T.H. Harris Campus Thursday, March 12 for a Career and Transfer Fair. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. The T.H. Harris Campus is located at 332 E. South Street in Opelousas. Students, alumni, and the public are invited to visit with employers looking to hire during this free event. Visitors are encouraged to bring copies of their resumes.
SLCC’s Corporate College will host a job fair focused on the industrial trades on Thursday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at SLCC’s New Iberia Campus located at 908 Ember Drive. This is a free event that is open to the public.

SLCC’s Foundation will recognize donors and scholarship recipients during a reception Monday. Students will be honored along with several donors, including the American Society of Nondestructive Testing, Cleco, LAGCOE, Louisiana CAT, Rotary of Lafayette, H&B Young Foundation, Lt. Dronet and Gulf Coast Bank, Mellington Family, and more.

The Gulf Area Campus will host it's 4th Annual Little Miss Paige Levine Mardi Gras Parade, Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. on the campus grounds.
Of the eight graduates, two will continue their studies at SLCC to earn their Medical Assistant degree. The six other graduates have found jobs in the healthcare industry.
The Small Business Boot Camp is a 2-week night course offered in Lafayette by SLCC’s Corporate College division for community members wanting to start their own business or expand their business skills.
SLCC’s Corporate College is hosting their semi-annual Industrial Trades Job Fair on Tuesday, March 12. The event will take place at SLCC New Iberia located at 908 Ember Dr. from 9 a.m. – noon.
SLCC to host 3rd Annual LCTCS OER conference February 7 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Devalcourt Building. This is the largest ever OER system conference with over 120 attendees.
Registration for a new ACT Prep course to prepare for the April ACT exam is now open. The course will be offered on Saturdays from 9a.m. – noon at SLCC’s Lafayette and Crowley campuses starting February 15, 2020. Registration is available online at bit.ly/SLCCACTPREP.
The Offices of Financial Aid and Student Accounts are currently working diligently to process the disbursement of financial aid funds. All refunds are issued to students through BankMobile.
Registration is open at South Louisiana Community College for a Notary Exam Prep course for the 2020 exam. SLCC moved the Lafayette course to the weekend in response to working adults wanting the opportunity to enroll in the course.

On Thursday, January 30, a career information session will be hosted by SLCC’s Corporate College from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Acadian Campus in Crowley. Training and career available after completing the programs for Commercial Truck Driving and Power Lineman will be the focus. This is a free event that is open to the public.
South Louisiana Community College will host a graduation ceremony for its first class of Power Lineman on Friday, January 24. The event will be held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at SLCC’s Acadian Campus in Crowley.
Each semester, students who have attained a 4.00 GPA for all course work taken at one of SLCC’s campuses and/or online during a 12-credit-hour or more semester are recognized on the Chancellor's List. Students who earn between 3.99 – 3.40 grade point average are recognized on the Dean’s List.
Our Fall 2019 Graduation ceremonies were held December 11 at the Cajundome Convention Center.
Bently Senegal, Director of Community Services for Our Lady of Lourdes R.M.C. will address SLCC graduates during an 8:30 a.m. ceremony Thursday, Dec. 11 while Ema Haq, owner of Bailey’s Seafood and Grill will address graduates at a 1 p.m. ceremony. Both ceremonies will be held at the Cajundome Convention Center. Graduates from Nursing and Allied Health, STEM, Energy and Transportation, and WorkReadyU will graduate at 8:30 a.m. Graduates in Business, IT and Technical Studies and Liberal Arts and Humanities will graduate at 1 p.m. Nearly 700 students are candidates for graduation.
South Louisiana Community College and the St. Landry Parish School Board have partnered to offer a Basic Industrial Scaffolding course to high schools students. This course is offered through the Corporate College division at SLCC. The Basic Industrial Scaffolding course will include one week of classroom training in St. Landry Parish and one week of hands-on training at SLCC’s New Iberia campus. Students will learn how to erect and dismantle scaffolding, safety, tool use, working in a team, and personal responsibility.
