Looking for a career? We've got almost 50 employers joining us for our Fall Career Fair from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on our Lafayette Campus.

Potential students and parents throughout Acadiana can learn about academic programs, admissions, and financial aid from South Louisiana Community College faculty, staff, and students during a series of Campus Preview Days in November. All Campus Preview Days will be from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. These events are free and open to the public.

Utility company Cleco made a $50,000 contribution to help establish a Power Lineman Technician Training Program to be housed at South Louisiana Community College's Crowley campus.

On Wednesday, October 24, the entire Division of Student Affairs will experience adjusted work hours in support of a Fall Workshop from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Ride Acadiana is adding seven new stops on its route between Acadia Parish and Lafayette, including a stop at South Louisiana Community College in Crowley. With an existing stop at SLCC in Lafayette, students and faculty can now easily travel between the two campuses.

South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) commends the Lafayette Parish Library for shining a light on diversity and inclusion within our community, particularly over the last few weeks. The College, like the Library, is committed to civil discourse and conversation on all issues.

Registration for our Spring 2019 semester is starting next week. The class schedule for Spring 2019 is viewable now.

South Louisiana Community College will be offering its Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program in New Iberia beginning in October. The college currently offers CDL training in Crowley and Morgan City.  The college’s Corporate College division is expanding its current program to meet industry needs.

Progress is continuing on the proposed welding training facility at the Port of West St. Mary. Tests of the soil were recently completed to determine conditions for designing and constructing the facility’s foundation, parking, and other features.

South Louisiana Community College’s most recent Registered Nursing graduates successfully achieved a 100% National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) board pass rate. The May 2018 cohort of 31 graduates earned Associate of Science degrees.

Open enrollment is underway at South Louisiana Community College for a training program of the next generation of maritime industry workers.

Our Nursing and Allied Health Division is conducting a community needs survey. The purpose of this survey is to determine the need for a Practical Nurse (PN) to Registered Nurse (RN) Program in St. Landry Parish.

South Louisiana Community College is answering a call from industry and offering a Carpentry program at its St. Martinville Campus this Fall. SLCC’s Corporate College will offer the program at the Evangeline Campus. Registration for will begin in October.

South Louisiana Community College is among the fastest growing colleges that award associate degrees in the country. That’s according to the latest edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education’s Almanac. The Chronicle – the premier publication dedicated to college and university news across the nation – publishes this ranking plus others each year in its Almanac. This year’s rankings considered enrollments from 2006 to 2016.

South Louisiana Community College’s Corporate College will begin offering a Defensive Driving course at its New Iberia campus this month. The classroom-style program will be a highly interactive driver-improvement program that focuses on the importance of attitude in accident prevention and good driving skills.

A partnership between the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Community Corrections division and South Louisiana Community College is offering inmates a technical diploma track in Welding. The program began last year.

Two key administrators recently joined South Louisiana Community College. Brad Breaux was named Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Dr. Katheryne Pavey is Dean of Student Services. Both positions will be responsible for operations throughout the college’s nine-campus footprint.

Current SLCC students have the chance to win a Finish Line Scholarship on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the conclusion of the college’s Striding for Scholarships 5K and 1-mile Fun Run. “This really is an ‘enter to win’ opportunity for a current student to win an SLCC scholarship to help defray the cost of college expenses. There is no application process or essay required,” said Lana Fontenot, executive director of the SLCC Foundation. To qualify for the Finish Line Scholarship drawing, current SLCC students must register for the 5K or 1-mile Fun Run.

Looking for a part-time job this semester? Exhibitors will be the Lafayette Campus Friday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. to meet with you. The event will be held in the Devalcourt Auditorium.

Nearly 20 companies have signed up for SLCC’s Corporate College upcoming Industrial Trades Job Fair on August 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at SLCC’s Lafayette Campus in the Ardoin Building at 1101 Bertrand Dr. The college is expecting 25 companies at the fair, looking for welders, auto technicians, HVAC repairmen, truck drivers, carpenters, and other skilled tradesmen.

SLCC’s Corporate College will host a job fair focused on the Industrial Trades on August 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event will take place at SLCC’s Lafayette Campus in the Ardoin Building at 1101 Bertrand Dr.
