South Louisiana Community College will award more than $185,000 in scholarships to students for the Fall 2025 semester. Thanks to the generosity of companies, organizations, and individuals across Acadiana, these scholarships will help students cover tuition and reach their educational goals. “These scholarships open doors for our students and let them know they’re not walking this journey alone,” said Brittany Ducote, Development & Alumni Coordinator at SoLAcc. “The investment from our donors fuels confidence, reduces barriers, and ensures that more students can complete their education and make a difference in our community.”
Scholarship recipients represent a wide range of majors at SoLAcc, from Nursing and Information Technology to Industrial Trades and General Studies. Donors also reflect the community of Acadiana, including Charletta Thomas, a member of the Foundation for SoLAcc Board of Directors and co-owner with her husband, Larry, of A Place at Home Lafayette, who established the A Place at Home Lafayette Scholarship. “I’ve personally seen the positive impact that compassionate home health caregivers bring to families,” Thomas said. “With this scholarship, we want to empower students to carry that same spirit of care forward, helping strengthen and uplift our entire community.”
A reception for the scholarship recipients was held on October 14, 2025, at 3 p.m. in the Devalcourt Auditorium on SoLAcc’s Lafayette Campus.
