When you enroll at SoLAcc, it’s important to stay familiar with the college's policies, procedures, and regulations. While academic advisors, counselors, and instructors are here to help, it's your responsibility to understand and follow all guidelines.

If policies change, we’ll notify you through regular channels, such as emails, instructor announcements, or college publications. Changes take effect as determined by the college.

ACADEMIC STATUS

A student's academic status is based on policies set by the Louisiana Community and Technical College System to maintain college standards. These standards help ensure students are making progress toward their academic goals. Students who don't meet these standards may face dismissal. Academic status can also impact eligibility for scholarships, loans, work-study, Selective Service, insurance rates, and other activities.

Advanced Placement/Credit for Prior Learning

SoLAcc understands that learning happens in many places, not just in the classroom. That's why we offer students the chance to earn credit for college-level knowledge gained through different experiences.

grading system

Faculty are expected to explain in writing how final grades are determined, including the grading breakdown, in the course syllabus, which is given during the first week of classes. After receiving a final grade, students can request an informal or formal review to address any concerns.

HONORS

Students are eligible for academic honors upon the completion of 12 hours at SoLAcc (exclusive of developmental courses).

• The Chancellor’s List recognizes students who have a semester grade point average of 4.00.
• The Dean’s List recognizes students who have a semester grade point average between 3.40 and 3.99.
