New Foundation Officers, Board Members Named

LAFAYETTE ­– Three new members have joined the 2021-22 Board of Directors for the SLCC Foundation. The new members began a four-year term on July 1.

They are:

  • Monique Babineaux Boulet (pictured left), Chief Executive Officer, Acadiana Planning Commission
  • Michelle Mahne (pictured center), Child Care Resource & Referral Marketing Specialist, Lafayette Parish School System
  • Jan Swift (pictured right), Host and Producer, Discover Lafayette Podcast

        

 Board members oversee foundation operations, set policy, serve as community advocates for SLCC, and assist in strategic planning and fundraising activities.

“I am thrilled and honored to welcome these strong leaders to our board,” said Lana Fontenot, executive director of the Foundation. “These new board members have impressive professional backgrounds, strong community connections, and deep passions for improving Acadiana through education.”

The 2021-22 SLCC Foundation officers are:

  • President: G. Jeffrey Jones, Retired, JP Morgan Chase
  • Immediate Past President: Brett Mellington, Manager of Business Development, Lafayette Economic Development Authority
  • Vice President: Gregory Daigle, Financial Advisor, Pinnacle Group
  • Treasurer: Michael Flash, Owner/CFO, Dixie Electric
  • Secretary: Andre Breaux, Vice President of Policy Initiatives and Governmental Affairs, One Acadiana

“The SLCC Foundation Board of Directors welcomes these new Board Members to our team. Each of these individuals brings a unique set of skills and community engagement experience to the Foundation,” said G. Jeffrey Jones, president of the SLCC Foundation. “These attributes will assure the continuation of our mission to provide a measure of  financial assistance to a diverse pool of deserving students.  Quite simply, we are delighted to have them on the SLCC Foundation Board.”

  • Dr. Vincent June, Chancellor, South Louisiana Community College
  • Tim Marks, Chief Population Health and Clinical Integration Officer, Opelousas General
  • Paul Molbert, Vice President of Network Development and Governmental Relations, Lafayette General Health
  • Raj Shetye, Senior Vice President and Chief Analytics Officer, LHC Group

The SLCC Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation established in 2003 for the mission of supporting the activities of South Louisiana Community College. Over the last five years, the SLCC Foundation has raised a $2.1 million match for a $17 million Health & Sciences Building for the College’s Lafayette campus, increased its endowment 16-fold through new scholarships and professorships, increased employee giving from 1.8% to over 67%, implemented SLCC’s largest-ever scholarship program, and executed successful naming campaigns for two new College facilities in Lafayette and St. Martinville.
