Learn about Short-Term Training Programs Nov. 21 in Lafayette

South Louisiana Community College’s continuing education division, Corporate College, is hosting an open house on Thursday, November 21 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at SLCC Lafayette’s Ardoin building. Community members will learn about short-term, job-focused training programs offered through the college.

This is a free event, open to the public. Community members who are unemployed or underemployed are encouraged to attend.

In addition to learning about job training and career paths in truck driving, construction, healthcare, welding, lineman, HVAC repair, and electrical; participants will also be able to speak with representatives from the American Job Center about tuition assistance.

“We want people to know that there are options available to start a new career. With training from 3 weeks to 12 months, short-term training is the best avenue for those wanting to get to work quickly,” stated Nancy Roy, Outreach and Engagement coordinator for SLCC’s Corporate College.  “The open house offers an opportunity to learn which career path is right for you.”

Each of the training programs will have a table set up with information about the course. The manager of that specific program will be on hand to explain what students will learn in the class and what jobs are available to them upon completion of the course.

SLCC’s Corporate College was established in 2015. This division of SLCC offers short-term training for in-demand jobs to meet the needs of the community’s workforce.

For more information about the open house, call SLCC’s Corporate College Outreach and Engagement office at 337-521-6639 or email nancy.roy@solacc.edu.
