Info Sessions Next Week for Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Science Programs

South Louisiana Community College will be hosting virtual informational sessions from its Medical Assistant program and its Medical Science Laboratory program next week. 

Medical Assistant
Monday, March 15 at 1 p.m.
Join the Session
This session is free and open to anyone interested in starting a career in healthcare. The Medical Assistant program prepares students for employment in private and large group physician’s offices, clinics, hospitals, medical records, laboratories, or insurance companies. The MA program begins every August – training lasts 9 months – and students graduate in May. This program is Financial Aid eligible. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam for Medical Assistants.

This session will be held on Webex and can be joined from mobile phones, tablets, or computers. Attending the MA information session will give you an opportunity to learn about the program and ask any questions you may have.


Medical Laboratory Science
Wednesday, March 17 at 1 p.m.

This session is free and open to anyone interested in starting a career in healthcare. MLS graduates have careers in hospitals, physician’s offices, veterinary clinics, industrial and crime labs. The Medical Laboratory Science program is a two-year program that begins each August. Students are accepted into the program through a selective admission process. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification exam for Medical Laboratory Technicians. The MLS program is Financial Aid eligible.

It is mandatory that prospective students attend one MLS information session. The sessions will be held virtually with WebEx and can be joined from mobile phones, tablets, or computers.  You will need to download WebEx. Attending the MLS information session will give you an opportunity to learn about the program and ask any questions that you may have.
