PN Students Participate in Opioid Crisis Event in Abbeville

PN students took vital signs, temperatures, and measure oxygen levels at an Opioid Crisis event this week hosted by Woodlake Addiction Center.

Practical Nursing students from South Louisiana Community College attended an Opioid Crisis event, hosted by Woodlake Addiction Center this week at the Red Barn in Abbeville.

The PN students, under the supervision of instructor Venessa Mouton-Sholes, administered Hepatitis A vaccinations, took vital signs, temperatures, and oxygen saturations of all the attendees.

Dr Stefanski, Regional Medical Director, Office of Public Health in Acadiana, spoke about the COVID-19 crisis, and also gave updates for the state. The Abbeville Fire Department took part in the event as well and COVID kits were available for attendees. This event was part of the students' clinical experience.
