Money for College – More than $95K Available in Spring Scholarships

More than $95,000 in scholarships is available for the upcoming spring semester at South Louisiana Community College. New and continuing students can apply for SLCC scholarships through November 15.

Through the generosity of donors in Acadiana, dozens of students will have a portion or nearly all of their education for the spring semester paid.

New scholarships established this year include those from educational supporters such as Bridgeway Apartments, Eyeconik Brand, Louisiana Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, Mellington Family, and Lemoine Company.

Combined with the scholarships awarded during the current fall semester, more than $150,000 is projected to be awarded this academic year. Several of the 100+ available scholarships are open to all students, while others are specific to a student’s campus location and/or major.

“Scholarships are powerful tools that help recruit and retain our students,” said Lana Fontenot, SLCC’s vice chancellor for institutional advancement. “There is no greater feeling to our scholarship donors than knowing they are helping provide an education to a student, and there is no greater relief to our scholarship recipients than knowing they can worry less about the costs of that education. Plus, they now have someone who is invested in their success.”

Students interested in applying for the scholarships should visit SLCC’s website at www.solacc.edu/scholarships.

The Spring 2020 semester begins January 10.
