WorkReady U Adult Education Program Garners Awards from La Association for Public, Community, and Adult Education

South Louisiana Community College's WorkReady U Adult Education Program recently received three prestigious awards from the Louisiana Association for Public, Community, & Adult Education (LAPCAE) for Student of the Year, Administrator of the Year, and Teacher of the Year. A ceremony will be held on May 1 at 10 a.m. on the Acadian Campus in Crowley to recognize Jessica Dauphinet, Student of the Year; Christy Thomas, Administrator of the Year; and James Darrin Campbell, Teacher of the Year. 

"Our staff and students continue to exceed our expectations every year," said Karen Raggio, Director of Adult Education at SLCC. "We are so proud of Jessica, Christy, and Darrin's accomplishments both in and out of the classroom. They all act as mentors within the adult ed program and I am thrilled that they are being recognized by LAPCAE for their dedication and hard work."

SLCC's WorkReady U program serves over 3,000 students a year with free high school equivalency, college and career readiness, and English language acquisition classes. LAPCAE is a state organization that  provides leadership in the advancement of all forms of adult, technical, and community education by unifying the profession, developing human resources, providing professional development opportunities, encouraging research in the field of adult education, communicating relevant news with members and the public, providing scholarships to adult learners, and recognizing top state educators.
