LIBERAL ARTS AND HUMANITIES
The programs offered through our Liberal Arts and Humanities Division provide the education necessary for a student to be successful in a variety of pathways for their future, whether in preparation for transferring into a Bachelor's Degree program or in supporting the general education that accompanies the college's entire array of workforce, technical and allied health degrees, certificates, and programs.
The renowned Physicist Richard Feynman once said:
"You can know the name of a bird in all the languages of the world, but when you're finished, you'll know absolutely nothing whatever about the bird... So let's look at the bird and see what it's doing -- that's what counts. I learned very early the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something."The mission and goal of the Liberal Arts & Humanities at SLCC is dedicated to helping you, our students, know more than just names and facts of our disciplines, but to help you use this knowledge to succeed in your lives both professionally and personally. This is the heart of the phrase “Know. Know How,” which we hope is more than just a phrase for you as you undertake your journey towards the future here with us! Your success is what we are here for, and that success is what our faculty and staff are dedicated to helping you achieve. We cherish the diversity of experience you, our students, bring to our classrooms and we celebrate what we hope will be a community of ideas and thought on all our campuses. We hope your experience here at SLCC will not end when you transfer or complete a degree with us, but instead will instill a lifelong passion for learning that you will take forward with you into life!
