applying for foundation scholarships
Application Questions
There are five questions on the Foundation Scholarship Application. We understand some of these can be tough, so we’ve included prompts to help you respond.
Each answer has a minimum word count of 250 words and a maximum count of 5000.

Tell us about your school and career goals, and how you plan to reach them. Please explain fully!
- What program did you choose and why?
- When do you hope to graduate?
- Do you want to continue your education after completing your current program?
- Do you have a job in your field? Or have you started interviewing for a job in your field?
- What are some of your other short-term and long-term goals?

Explain your financial and life situation. Also indicate if you anticipate getting a PELL grant, other outside scholarships or assistance, etc.
- Who do you live with (parents, family member, spouse), or do you support yourself?
- Do you have a family or others to support? (kids, spouse, etc.)
- Do you have a job?
- What expenses do you pay for? (insurance, phone, groceries, utilities, etc.)
- Do you qualify for PELL?
- Have you had to take out loans to pay for school or other expenses?
- How would this scholarship help you stay in school and succeed?

Explain areas in your life where you demonstrated commitment and overcame obstacles, either through your school, social, or family life.
- Do you play sports/musical instrument? Or have other hobbies that require commitment?
- Did you struggle with a class in high school/college that you eventually passed?
- What did you have to do to pass? (tutoring, extra credit, more study time, etc.)
- Did you have a job in high school to help support yourself and your family?
- Have you done a project or activity that shows your determination?
- Did you take online classes during COVID? Was it difficult? Why/How?
- Did you take dual enrollment classes while in high school? Why?
- What did you learn about yourself from these experiences?

Please tell the committee about a personal achievement that makes you proud.
- Have you ever won any awards in school or otherwise?
- Have you volunteered for any school/community/church organizations?
- What personal goals have you achieved?
- Did you have a high GPA in high school? Or in your current degree program?
- Were you in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4H, etc.?
- Have you attended summer camps or classes during the summer to improve your skills?
