PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Health Studies program at South Louisiana Community College is designed for students who want to build a career in healthcare beyond patient care. Whether you're interested in hospital administration, EMS coordination, data management, or healthcare marketing, this program equips you with the knowledge and experience to take the lead in the healthcare industry.

Earn an Associate’s degree that opens doors—and now, experience hands-on learning through our new Health Studies Internship. Our new Health Studies Internship course offers 3 credit hours and combines classroom learning with 120 hours of hands-on internship experience.

WHEN/WHERE: Starts in the Fall at our Lafayette campus and engages students in healthcare internships throughout the Acadiana region. 

Health Studies Internship

Health Studies internships provide entry-level, on-the-job learning opportunities, allowing interns to augment their work experience, hone important work skills, develop their career goals, and establish connections that may prove useful throughout their careers.

  • Work-based learning in areas like healthcare management, EMS, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and health information.
  • Resume-building experience and career mapping.
  • Real-world exposure to hospital leadership, operations, and outreach.
