South Louisiana Community College culinary student Laura Thibodeaux is taking her talents to the Walt Disney World Resort after being selected for the Disney Culinary Program.
Laura began the program on August 3 and will spend more than three months gaining hands-on experience at Walt Disney World in Florida. She was selected to work the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, one of the resort's signature culinary events, where she will prepare and serve food for guests from around the world in a fast-paced, professional environment.
"I have always loved Disney World," Laura said. "This opportunity will help advance my culinary career because where better than the most magical place on earth to gain experience? I'm especially excited to work the Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT and sharpen my skills while experiencing different cultures."
Laura encourages other students to pursue opportunities that challenge them.
"My biggest piece of advice is to just go for it," she said. "Don't be afraid to apply because you'll never know if you don't try."
The Disney Culinary Program provides students with immersive, real-world experience in one of the world's largest hospitality and food service operations, allowing participants to develop technical skills while working alongside industry professionals.
