South Louisiana Community College offers EMT-Basic and EMT-Paramedic certification courses through The National EMS Academy, an educational partnership with Acadian Ambulance Service. This program is accredited through Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMPS).
These courses earn college credit toward SLCC’s Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services Education and meet all of the requirements for certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

• Lecture is broadcast to all National EMS Academy sites using state-of-the-art video-conferencing equipment.
• Every SLCC/National EMS Academy site is staffed with paramedic instructors who provide on-site practical skills instruction and assist students with classroom and clinical training.
• The Associate of Applied Science in EMT is offered through a partnership between SLCC and Acadian Ambulance called National EMS Academy.
